I used WordPress.com to create my blog. It was so simply and easy to do. I love WordPress, it’s so easy to use and I love the community it has. I love reading other people’s blogs and I love that it’s so easy for others to find my blog through the Reader.
For the first few years of blogging I had a free account but I had bought my domain. I think it’s really important to buy your domain so you own it and you get rid of the WordPress.com branding in your site name ✨
I got the Business Plan this year so I can install plugins, have access to different themes, be able to create a WooCommerce shop and be able to choose to have ads or not
The Plugins I Use: Yoast SEO, Mailchimp, Featured Images In RSS Feeds (to make my featured image from every blog post show up in my automatic emails) ✨
Now, using wordpress.com instead of using a hosting company and then using wordpress.org is pretty controversial but if you have no technical knowledge and you really want to have your own website easily, this is the way. The WordPress business plan is exactly like having a self hosted website in terms of owning your site except you get the customer support from WordPress and it’s easier to set up since you just make an account and don’t need to go through all the tech that comes with self hosting.
I also spoke to a WordPress professional and they clearly told me that when you purchase a domain, you own your own website not them. Another reason wordpress.com is amazing is because you have the 24/7 support ✨
Best tool for graphic design
For graphic design, which includes making images for my blog, Pinterest or social media I use Canva.com . It’s free to use and so easy. There are so many templates to use if you’re new to graphic design and they also have their own AI tool to make your ideas come to life.
How to gain blog traffic easily and quickly
The easiest and fastest way to drive traffic to a blog is through Pinterest. It’s especially powerful if you’re starting as a beginner because you don’t need an existing following to get your content seen. Pinterest works more like a search engine than a traditional social media platform—people go there specifically to find inspiration, ideas, and blog posts, not just to scroll and stay on the app like social media.
To see results, consistency is key. Ideally, you should be pinning daily for at least a month, with multiple pins per day (around 10 or more) linking back to your blog. The more consistently you show up, the more opportunities you create for your content to be discovered.
I personally use Tailwind to schedule and automate my pins, and it’s a big reason why Pinterest is my number one traffic source. I get over 1 million monthly views because I’m able to keep my content consistently circulating without having to manually pin all day. One of the most helpful features is Tailwind Communities (formerly “Tribes”), which are groups where creators share each other’s pins to increase reach and visibility. The next most powerful traffic source is Google. Unlike Pinterest, Google requires your blog to rank in search results, which takes time and strong SEO. New websites typically take around 3–6 months before they start to appear consistently in search results. To rank well, your blog posts need to be optimized with strong keywords—terms that people are actively searching for but that also have lower competition.
While Pinterest gives faster results, Google is essential for long-term, steady traffic growth.
