How to Create A No-Makeup Makeup Look
Ever wondered how to look effortlessly chic everyday? What do we do on those days (more like everyday) when we want to look put together, feel our best and ditch the full glam look? Because let’s be real, full glam isn’t convenient for everyday life. Most of us don’t have the time, the want, or the need to create glamorous makeup looks everyday. A natural makeup look is sometimes all we need.
But before we get into the tutorial…
What Is No-Makeup Makeup
No-makeup makeup is a makeup look that enhances your features and just makes you look like an enhanced version of you. It accentuates you’re beautiful features instead of covering them up and looks good on everyone. It’s all about enhancing your look and feeling the best in your skin.
It’s light on the skin and makes the perfect everyday look because it’s quick, easy, light and shows off your natural beauty.
There are many ways to do no-makeup makeup and it all depends on your facial features, what suits you and your personal taste. Some people apply more and some less. It’s all about finding what you like best. So take inspiration from the steps I wrote out and do what’s best for you.
And here’s a little something I want to share for anyone who needs to hear it : It doesn’t matter what type of makeup is trendy. You don’t have to change the way you do your makeup because of what is in style. Do your makeup in a way that suits your face and is perfect for your lifestyle. Style of makeup should not even be a trend because everyone’s face, preference and lifestyle is different. Do your makeup in a way that makes you feel beautiful <3 and is the best for your lifestyle.
Now back to the tutorial, let’s learn how to create a no-makeup makeup look.
No Makeup Makeup Tutorial
Here are a few photos of inspiration I found on Pinterest. Use the steps below to create your perfect look.

Step 1: Tinted Moisturizer, BB Cream or Light Foundation
The first step to a no makeup makeup look is using your favourite tinted moisturizer, BB cream or foundation depending the amount of coverage you want. You can also just use concealer wherever you need it and skip the foundation.
If you don’t want a lt of coverage I suggest just using concealer or a tinted moisturizer or BB Cream. your skin is dryer I suggest a BB cream. My favourite BB Cream is the Inika Organics BB Cream. If you have a skin condition or just extremely sensitive skin, I suggest your try it. It’s the only BB Cream/foundation that doesn’t make me breakout.
If you need more options that can be purchased at Sephora, I suggest these:
For concealer, I suggest the Sephora Gel Serum Concealer. I have tried SO many concealers and this is the one that looks the most natural, covers dark circles well and is easy to apply and blend. You can also just use concealer wherever you need and skip the BB Cream
Step 2: Cream Blush
Next step is blush. Blush is the most important part to no makeup makeup because it gives a fresh and youthful glow to your face. It gives a natural glow that you would naturally get through the sun.
Apply it on your cheekbones, and nose for a sun kissed look.
You can use either a powder or cream blush, whichever you prefer or already have.
For cream blush I suggest this one from Ilia. It’s made for even the most sensitive skin and won’t cause breakouts. It’s a natural, clean brand as well and they have many colour options available.
Another good cream blush is this one from Rare Beauty. It’s also clean and blends really nicely into the skin.
Now, for powder blush, I recommend this palette:
This is my favourite blush of all time! It’s the Sephora Collection trio face palette in Gleam. The blush colour is stunning and I haven’t seen anything like it. It also comes wit a subtle and shiny highlight. It’s a great deal!
Step 3: Eyes
The next step is eyes. The less you do, the more natural it will look, so if you want to skip eyeshadow you can.
If you want to add a little eyeshadow to your no makeup makeup look, apple a natural eyeshadow colour that matches your skin tone all over your lid. Then, apply an eyeshadow colour one shade darker to your outer crease.
To create a natural liner, use a brown eyeliner or brown eyeshadow. I suggest using brown eyeshadow with an angled brush because it is the easiest way to apply eyeliner and looks the most natural. You don’t want a harsh line, just natural thin line that makes it look like your eye is naturally shaped that way.
Create a thin line on the outer corners of your eyes to enhance your eye shape and create a natural cat eye effect. Remember, the goal is to make it as thin and natural as possible to create the illusion you have no makeup on.
If you went a bit overboard on your liner and want it more subtle, swipe your finger under the liner to dust away some of the color.
Next, apply mascara or natural false eyelashes. I suggest the Tarte Primer and Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara.
If you’d rather put false lashes, either use these natural strip lashes or just apply individual lashes to the outer corner of your eye.
You can skip this step if you want your makeup to look like you’re not wearing any (lashes or mascara is the biggest giveaway that you have makeup on)
I suggest these false lashes if you prefer to go with that:
Step 4: Eyebrows
Now it’s time for brows! Brush them up in any way you like them. You can fill them in if you are missing hairs or leave them natural.
I love this brow palette from Benefit. It comes with lots of different shades of powder eyebrow colours which makes it easier to apply. Its also easy to correr a mistake bevause it is a powder that you can simply dust off with a tissue.
Use an angled brush, dip it into the colour that matches your eyebrows and lightly swipe in small strokes across your eyebrows to create a natural filled in brow.
Step 5: Lips
For lips, it’s all about enhancing your natural lip shape ane colour.
Use a lipliner that matches your lips and add a clear or sheer gloss over top. This creates the cutest pout 🥰
Find the lipliner that matches your lips here:
If you want to keep things even more simple, skip the liner and only put clear gloss.
My favourite clear glosses:
Optional Step 6: Freckles
The last step is embracing your freckles or beauty marks. If you naturally have freckles or beauty marks, show them off! Don’t cover them up. They make you unique and this makeup look is all about embracing your natural features, and looking like you don’t have makeup on.
Now I know the whole point of this look is to look like an enhanced version of us but some of us like the look of freckles and since it is something natural that some of us have, I thought I’d share how to recreate them.
If you like the look of freckles then the easiest way to create them is by taking a bobby pin and dipping it in a powder bronzer or light brown eyeshadow and apply it on your face with the bobby pin. This is the most natural way to recreate freckles in my experience.
This is the bronzer I use:
It’s the Too Faced Milk Chocolate bronzer. It’s not too dark and makes the faux freckles look very natural. You can also apply this bronzer to your cheeks for a sun kissed glow.
You don’t need to add freckles, it’s just something fun to do. But I will add that if you want to look like you have no makeup on, I suggest not adding freckles if you don’t naturally have them because that will be a giveaway that you have makeup on to someone that knows you.
and that is how you create a no makeup-makeup look easily!
Have fun with it and always do what’s best for you 🙂 and don’t hesitate to contact me if you need any tips.
