Preppy style has recently gotten popular again and has been trending all over social media for a while now. It’s a classic way of dressing (and so beautiful in my opinion) so it never really goes out of style but there has been a surge in popularity over this year.
But what sparked the sudden spike in popularity? Preppy fashion hasn’t been this popular since Gossip Girl aired. Well, fashion does repeat itself however the academia, soft girl and old-money fashion trends on TikTok got preppy style popular with Gen Z.
I think it’s good that classy outfits are “in” again as there were way too many unrealistic and unsophisticated fashion trends going around. It’s nice to see class and sophistication gain popularity. Now for everyone who LOVES this style, let’s get into preppy and classy outfit ideas you can wear this fall and winter! What I love about a preppy and classic wardrobe is that you can wear these pieces for years to come. They never go out of style.

If you want to dress like this but don’t know where to start, these are some essentials every wardrobe needs to achieve this preppy and classy look: white and cream long sleeve, wool coat, blouse with a bow, sweater vest, plaid skirt, knitted dress, matching tweed skirt & jacket, knee high boots and a crossbody bag.

If you are building your wardrobe, I know how overwhelming it could be when you want to dress a certain way but are missing pieces. It takes time to build a wardrobe specially if you are changing your style. Take your time to find good quality pieces that will last you a few years and most importantly can be matched with different pieces.
Purchase a couple good quality pieces at a time and always ensure that what you are buying matches together so you can create more outfits. This is an easy way to create more outfits with less pieces.
